Overview of park
It’s an oasis in the middle of the New York craziness. Booked a week, but decided to extend for a second week. Battle Row was one of our New York City favorites, other than having to decamp to dump. The showers & toilets are close by and clean, which helps with the water rationing.

Site Quality
The campground is organized with a loop road around the outside with a slope to the top side. Inside the loop, 3 roads run from the top of the slope to the bottom. The loop has sites at the top and the bottom, with the connecting roads having sites on both sides of the road. Google may help explain
Not all sites are flat, but the majority are not excessive. Here are the 3 roads that run top to bottom. The majority of big rigs/nomads are in the 3rd row (left image) or on the top and bottom roads. We were on the bottom row in site #15.
Good spacing and in a nice quiet space considering that it is in the middle of Long Island.
Facilities
We requested a site with 50A. All sites have water, but no sewer. There is an on-site dump station. We prefer 50A without sewer over 30A and sewer, our rig just doesn’t function as well without the extra power and some of our equipment is 240V (cooker, washer/dryer).
The shower block is older, but well maintained and we used it regularly to save water.
There are some children’s playground equipment; we had kids to check the quality 🙂
The office gladly accepted parcels and the service was very friendly.
Location
The residential area around the camp is very nice, with all the big box stores within a few miles. You do need a vehicle to get around as the nearest bus station is about 2 miles away. The MTA North station is about 4-5 miles away, with quick trains into Penn Station or change at Jamaica for all other destinations (I had to go into Atlantic Terminal several days and it was quick an convenient).
If you need to visit the city regularly then this is a great choice for a base. If you need to go in every day consider Croton Point as the station is closer.
Pet-friendliness
Our dogs were very happy here. The roads provide for some variation on walks. There are squirrels and rabbits, always a favorite for keeping the dogs alert. Past the washroom is a fairly open space, and when there were no campers to disturb, we allowed the dogs to run around. So our guys rated this very high on the petometer!
Summary
As a campground with access to the city, yet in a quiet nice neighborhood this scores highly and we did extend our stay for that very reason. If you don’t need to be in the city all day every day this is recommended.
